My sister is due with her first baby, any day now! Due to the pandemic, we weren't able to have the shower we envisioned, so I planned an intimate "A Little Cutie is on the Way" shower at my house with just family. The color scheme was pink, orange, and white and I added the citrus elements in understated ways.
One money saving piece of advice is to decorate with pieces that can be reused. I remember doing a huge balloon backdrop for my daughters' joint birthday party. I loved it and it made a beautiful statement, but I remember balloons taking over my house for what felt like months afterwards, and then popping all those balloons and throwing them in the garbage was wasteful. Don't get me wrong, I love balloons, but these paper lanterns make an impressive backdrop and can be folded and stored for the next event. You can get them at any party planning store or online.
I ordered these super adorable sugar cookies on Etsy and they were the perfect finishing touch for the table, not to mention how yummy they were. I'm pretty sure my kids ate four each.
A set table does not feel complete without floral centerpieces and these beautiful flowers from Urban Stem elevated the entire dining experience. I used simple drinking glasses as vases and paired them with vintage, mercury, rose votives to create a lovely, elegant look.
What would a baby shower be without dessert? A local bakery, The Sweet Spot Bake Shoppe, made these delicious gluten-free cupcakes. I added the candied oranges for the top, using a super easy recipe from Pinterest.
The theme we chose was mostly inspired by these elegant clementine invitations, They were adorably sophisticated and the perfect welcome to the party. It also came with a "Books for Baby" download, which is a wonderful idea. As a former English teacher, books are near and dear to my heart, so having your guests sign a book to create a library for the new baby is a priceless memory.
Orange you so sweet? Is this not the sweetest bathing suit ever? It is also the softest! I ordered matching suits for my girls from Sweet Honey, because I loved it so much and it went perfect with the theme.
This small baby shower turned out to be just what we all needed to celebrate my beautiful sister and my new niece. As a surprise, I asked my sister's friends to send me words of wisdom and well wishes for the new parents. I created a video montage with all the amazing messages I received and played it at the shower. I wanted her to remember how blessed and loved she is no matter what is happening in the world. We can't wait to meet the little blessing!
